Paranormal Police in The Spirit of Giving For The Holidays

826 Paranormal / James Myers

Update January 2, 2010 1420

The Holiday season a time for giving and caring of all young and old. .Stepping away from their dangerous patrol work and paranormal investigating, the East Coast Paranormal Police donated portions of the proceeds from their haunted tour they ran in October. . The tour included several haunted locations in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The final stop was a walking tour of the abandoned Poli Palace Theater. The ECPP was founded by Bridgeport Police Officer James Myers. Myers started off in high school 22 years ago taking photos of Urban Decay and Abandoned buildings. His interest lead to further training at Chamberlain School of Design and Paier College of Art in the graphic design field. Myers then joined the Bridgeport police department in 1998., where he started to get assignments searching very historical and abandoned buildings throughout the city. Myers always has his camera handy waiting for that once in a life time shot. People started to make comments about his photographs, stating that there were very unusual images appearing in his pictures. Myers researched the objects and realized he might be treading on the waters of the supernatural. He then started to investigate and research possible haunted locations for World famous ghost hunter Lorraine Warren. As time went on people started to take notice of 826 Paranormal , his trade name. Officers then started to come forward with their personal stories and experiences dealing with the paranormal .After noticing how many police officers where interested in the paranormal , he pulled together some of the best investigators ,and this is how the East Coast Paranormal Police was born.

The group is currently working with people from the A&E network on a possible TV show. Myers stated ” We chose the Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc. COPS.” This organization supports the families of fallen police officers in times of need. Myers stated ” People can not imagine the pressure that is put on police families in it self.” ” We know every time we leave our families to go to work it might be the last time.” Myers added ” It is a hard ,but true fact, we never know if we are coming home.” Using our fund-raising events with support of the local businesses and the City of Bridgeport ,we have a chance to give support to these families of the fallen officers..

The East Coast Paranormal Police are going to be running the haunted tour 2 times in 2010, The dates have not been chosen yet. The group is looking forward to making Halloween a city wide week long festival to raise money for some of the local charities.

To The Daring and Adventurous Networks:

My name is James Myers I have been a police officer for the past 12.5 years in the city of Bridgeport ,Connecticut. Over the years I have come face to face with many horrific and tragic sights. Some that I would never wish anyone to ever have to experience. As a police officer you are trained to go into situations and to resolve problems of all types. Over the past couple years I have taken a high school and college hobby of taking photos of the urban decay and abandoned buildings into a new level.

I expressed my interest to the city of Bridgeport about the many historical buildings in the city.I told them that I would watch over their buildings while exploring the unknown within the walls of each location. The city was happy to hear that there were people that had interest in the preservation of these historical sites. as a police officers I have the duty to protect and serve the community that I represent. This would include the property of the city and the community as a whole. I agreed to monitor the buildings while patrolling the exteriors and interiors of each site. I had to log any damage or unusual happenings in report form for the city.

During this time I was taking hundreds maybe even thousands of photos of these locations. I started to get strange responses online about these photos. People were telling me that they believed I was catching things of the supernatural. I did  not know what to think of this , since all I was doing was exploring the urban decay . I started to research the claims these people were telling me , and found that there was a possible link between the images and the paranormal phenomena psychic photographing.

My partner and I were on a prisoner transport to the local hospital. Yes we were babysitting as police officers. I observed an elderly woman being wheeled by me . She looked very familiar , but I could not place the face. Police officers see thousands of people every year, so I was not sure if she was someone we had encountered in a call for service. I then heard the nurse call out the name “Lorraine Warren” I looked at my partner and told her that the woman that was just wheeled by . I told my partner that my grand parents always used to talk about her when I was younger. I had to meet her. I asked the security guard if he would mind introducing me to Lorraine. He took me into her room and she greeted John and before he could introduce me. Lorraine looked at me and said ” Jimmy how are you?” I looked around and then down to my name badge. My name badge only has J Myers on it and there was no one else in  there. I was confused.

We started to talk and she told me about her accident. i just wanted to keep her company for a couple minutes until a family member arrived. Lorraine continued to talk to me about all types of subject matter, then the subject of the downtown Poli Palace theater came into play. She told me that she wanted to stop and go in when she saw all the movie trucks outside. I told her that maybe we could work something out to get in there .

We met for a lunch meeting and she wanted to see my photos that i told her about. I was thinking well she is just humoring me as we do when people come to us with police stories. Everyone has a story about a ticket or a certain officer. I thought well everyone probable comes to Lorraine in the same manner , but with their paranormal photos, and stories. I was wrong about her just humoring me , this was the start to my entry into the paranormal real. I did not ask to be in this field , the field has chosen me, why I have no idea.I got a phone call from my mother . She asked me where Lorraine lived, I told her. She told me to ask Lorraine if she knew Kay and Ted. I called Lorraine and asked the question, and Lorraine told me that was her neighbors that she was friendly with before they moved. I called my mother back and she told me with a laugh, That was your great grandparents. I told Lorraine and she could not believe it. She says it is not coincidence , but a synchronicity. This was the same great grand mother that was supposed to be working at the packing plant the day of the 1942 Remington Arms explosion that killed 7 and injured over 80 people.

As time went on we explored the theaters that we spoke about at the hospital. I then was invited to help in investigations with photography work. Lorraine really enjoyed my photos and looked at me as if I belonged there for a reason. Two months went by and I experienced investigation after investigation, but now they had me interviewing people. Not as a paranormal investigator, but a police officer exploring and investigating the unknown. I felt that some of the investigations were turning into para interrogations. I needed to have the truth, even if it was not what the people wanted to hear. Some cases turned into mental health issues, in which we handle a lot of on the police job. There were others that had direct connections with domestic abuse or domestic issues. Some of the cases were people believing the idea that they were experiencing something of the supernatural , when my skeptical police frame of mind would show then that there is a great deal of power of suggestion. This means if someone tells you that a house or person is haunted. They will have a good chance of believing that anything and everything strange and normal is attributed to the supernatural phenomena. In realistic words the power of suggestion can manipulate the brain functions to believe any and all occurrences are attributed to this suggested idea.

These are some of the normal and abnormal incidents that we face in police and paranormal work. The mind is a very powerful thing and people may not know that they are exposed to this power of suggestion  until it is pointed out to them. Some understand this power and connect the dots , others do not want to believe that there is nothing paranormal existing in their situation. I believe after talking with hundreds of people about this that there is a direct connection to getting attention focused on this person, for an idea that could only be made up by suggestion.

During these cases I would get upfront with the people, asking sometimes questions that may be awkward, but needed to make a thoroughinvestigation.  People when they are face to face with the unknown they reach out for help and answers. I have been on some investigations where I have seen the power of suggestion  implemented so bad using sensitives and psychics. I do like to use legit sensitives and psychics , but I have to know that they have no clue what type of case they are going on. This just adds to the credibility. When I work with Lorraine she does not want to know anything before the investigation.  She will not tell me anything until I am done taking my photos, then we compare the stories with the home owners to see if their is a commonality to proceed to the next step of the investigation process. That is where we come in.

The media started to pick up on ” Bridgeport Cop also walks the paranormal beat.” Yes I got harassed by some co-workers , some from the public , and the bloggs. I am a police officer trained to have thick skin. people stated “why does the city allow this guy to walk around as a police officer with a gun?” There were others that called me nuts, to me I have been called a lot worst. “The tax payers are paying this guy to ghost hunt?” I a long with my co workers laughed at this . we do the paranormal investigations on our own time , so why does it bother these people?

Time went on and it was like the flood gates were opened. People were emailing me , calling me, and sending me letters. 90% of these people telling me their experiences and asking for help were cops. the same people that were originally laughing at me. I believe that the strength of the mind set of the police office is bravery, honor, big bad asses. The reason they were laughing at first was that they can not be billy bad ass when it comes to something they can not fight or protect themselves against. This was a good sign, when I started to have police officers approaching me to help out on investigations. At first I was hesitant  about this , until I saw that they were seriously interested into the paranormal. This is when the concept and title  adhered to me as 826 Paranormal ” Looking at the unknown through a cop’s eyes”

I was at a Holiday family gathering speaking with Lorraine Warren, Tony Spera, and Frank Chaffari . The subject was the idea of implementing a team of police officers and emergency service workers into a team to investigate the paranormal. I then was contacted by a person from one of the network. They told me that they were interested in making a reality TV show on the subject matter we were focused on. I not knowing the business had diarrea of the mouth. Three weeks to the day the networks announce that they are going to have the show out of Chicago. was this a coincidence or direct connection. Slap in the face when the person I spoke to was impossible to get in touch with after the idea was put on the table.I was then contacted by a production group out of New York, they wanted to film a pitch or teaser for the idea of a show. I got together some of the best police officers that expressed the interest in coming on board a team setting. The pitch was shot and we had some bites , but the materialwas not in your face. I needed to be there when the pitch was made a long with an attorney. I formed the East Coast Paranormal Police investigation team. This team is made up of Police officers,Swat personnel, firemen, medics, nurses, K-9 search and recovery personnel, retired detectives, and other law enforcement personnel.

Time continuously is opening doors , but the doors are not the right ones. We are currently working with some of the people with one of the networks on this idea, but we are not going to put all our eggs in one basket. I have learned that all good things come within time. The ones that get things easy do not have as much appreciation for what they actually get.

So while I work with the publishing company on my book ,lecture, appear on local TV show, and some of the more popular paranormal shows (Ghost Adventures ,,Remington Arms, Travel Channel) ( A&E Paranormal State Meriden case) I will continue down this path that has been chosen for me . By Ed Warren and My great grandmother that are neighbors once again pushing me in the direction to help the paranormal field..The paranormal reality shows have become a dime a dozen. We will be in your face like no other  paranormal show. If you the daring and adventurous production companies and networks reading this article, remember I am a  police officer with over 12 years of experience. I am called to face the worst of the worst in todays’ society. Through my training and experience I resolve issues that need solutions. I am not a paranormal investigator, I am a police officer who investigates the unknown of the paranormal field.

James Myers 826 Paranormal is available for stories involving the paranormal , the police, occult identification, and lectures. He is also looking for new locations dealing with the paranormal and the police that other shows have not yet done .. Travel Channel series spotlights Bridgeport

Since it debuted in October of 2008, the Travel Channel series “Ghost Adventures” has taken viewers to roughly two dozen creepy locales. And Remington Arms in Bridgeport is definitely one of the eerier places they’ve visited, series executive producer Daniel Schwartz said. “This one is right at the top,” Schwartz said of the former factory on Barnum Avenue. “It definitely earned its keep in the pantheon of ‘Do not put me in that place.’ “In June, “Ghost Adventures,” which puts a team of paranormal investigators at a different spooky spot each episode, taped an installment at Remington. The episode airs at 9 p.m. Friday, and, though Schwartz refrains from ranking the episodes, he said Remington was definitely intimidating. That’s saying something. “Ghost Adventures” has visited places as varied as the Poveglia Island in Venice, Italy, and Ohio Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio. At each place, paranormal investigators Zak Bagans, Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin are “locked down” for a night and roam the premises, looking for evidence of the unknown. Though they all have different stories, the locations visited by the “Ghost” team have one thing in common: stories about spooky, unexplained activity.Remington Arms definitely fit the bill. Once one of the largest ammunition factories in the world, the Barnum Avenue site was no stranger to tragedies. These include a 1942 explosion that killed seven people and injured 80 others. The buildings at the site have been closed for years, and they have become a popular hangout for the area’s homeless, said James Myers, a Bridgeport police officer and paranormal investigator. It’s also been a hot spot for reports of odd activities, such as moving shadows and disembodied voices. Schwartz said the stories of the unexplained, combined with the site’s tragic history, made Remington a perfect “Ghost Adventures” locale. ”It kind of has the stench of an unhappy place,” he said. During the hourlong episode, Bagans and company interview local historical and paranormal experts, including Myers. They then spend the night at Remington, with some unsettling results. We won’t spoil it here, but suffice it to say that there are plenty of things going bump in the night at Remington. Myers, who investigates the unknown under the name 826 Paranormal, said it’s unclear whether the strange happenings at Remington are the result of ghostly visits or human intruders. But even if Remington isn’t haunted, it is spooky. ”It’s an old building,” Myers said. “It’s a creepy building, and there are stories to go along with it.” The Remington Arms episode of “Ghost Adventures” airs Friday at 9 p.m. on the Travel Channel.

Before The Series There Was The Original Paranormal Police

Before the new series Paranormal Police, that is plotted for release sometime during the next year. There was the original Paranormal Police, They Call themselves Connecticut, Officers, Paranormal , Society. The Idea of the Paranormal Police Stemmed from a recent article that was released in the Connecticut Post Newspaper about a Bridgeport Police Officer James Myers. After patrolling Bridgeport for 11 years, Police Officer James Myers has found another calling: the spiritual realm. Break-ins at the downtown complex of the shuttered Savoy Hotel and the Poli Palace/Majestic theaters got him inside the rundown buildings, where he took photos, an old hobby for the 38-year-old father of three. But these photos were different from other abandoned buildings he’s shot.”Things started to show up on my camera,” he said. Not just anything: orbs, which indicate the presence of spiritual energy. And lots of psychic energy. Then a chance meeting in Saint Vincent’s Hospital with famed psychic and Monroe resident Lorraine Warren set him on the path to becoming a paranormal researcher. While watching a suspect with his partner, he heard Warren’s, 81, name called. He knew he had to meet her, so he approached the security guard , who brought him to her room. Myers entered her room and she knew his name before he introduced himself. As Myers recalled: “She said, ‘Jimmy, how are you?’” Myers learned a couple weeks later from his mother that Warren was his great grand mother’s neighbor. Warren stated that she believes that he was sent in my direction for a reason. Ed and his great grand mother arrainged this from up above. This is a synchronicity event, Warren stated. Since then, the New England Society For Psychic Research welcomed Myers as the lead investigator, and psychic photographer for Warren and her son-in-law, Tony Spera, with investigations for the A&E network’s show “Paranormal State.” Myers interviews the parties effected by the supernatural and collect data with recording equipment.”They are pretty much calling me their psychic photographer,” Myers said. “[Warren] says I draw the energy.” Myers stated the supernatural energy seems to like his camera. While taking Warren and Tony and Judy Spera on a tour of the theater complex on Sept. 7, he took photos covered with orbs and spiritual energy. They also appeared in photos he took of the Colonial Theater on Boston Avenue, where the Warrens had dates. Sept. 7 is the birthday of Warren’s late husband, Ed Warren, the famed demonologist. He died on Aug. 29, 2006, and worked at the Poli as a teenager where they sometimes saw movies, Warren said. Myers assembled his photos into a slide show dedicated to the Warrens, and Lorraine Warren is showing it during her lectures all over the United States. He goes by the handle 826 Paranormal and says he is “looking at the unknown through a cop’s eyes.”

He said considers himself “open-minded but skeptical.”"I go in with the same attitude as at work. It’s just doing another form of investigation,” Myers said. It’s also a hobby and stress reliever that has proven a little creepy sometimes. Myers definitely feels things of the supernatural. Before he met Warren, he took photos at the former Norwich Psychiatric Hospital, along with approx.100 other locations. He states that the Norwich Psychiatric Hospital was where he experienced the most disturbing thing to date.”It felt like ice water being poured down the back of my shirt,” he said.”I’ve been disappointed on many cases that I have investigated.”Warren, who said she can see auras and can learn about a person from them, felt something special for Myers immediately upon their meeting.

“I was very impressed by him. He seemed very sincere. I could see a man who had a really deep interest,” she said. His job as a police officer makes him disciplined, a requirement for any paranormal researcher, according to Warren. Myers is also wary, but not scared, in paranormal situations.”He’s a guy that isn’t afraid,” she said, adding, “You’ve got to be leery. It’s stupid not to be leery” in haunted areas. Warren said. Still, Myers’ big test came Mischief Night, Oct. 30, when he and a Stamford police officer, who has been helping investigate the paranormal with the Warrens for over twenty years, stayed overnight in the Occult Museum in the ghost hunters’ Monroe home. People who try to stay there overnight have fled in fear, Warren said. It contains artifacts from their investigations, some famous for reportedly leading to the death of anyone who touched them. Myers didn’t touch, but looking through a video camera, he saw a moving orb. “It looked like there was a ping-pong ball bouncing around my camera,” Myers said.

Working with Lorraine and the Speras, visions like that could become a regular sight for the officer. But he maintains a professional attitude in his work”He’s taking photos, he’s taking recordings, he’s gaining knowledge,” Warren said. “He’s a good listener. He doesn’t go foolhardy into anything. He’s not in everybody’s face.”"All in all, he’s really proven himself to us,” she said. Myers is currently working on his first book release “826 Paranormal, Looking At The Unknown Through A Cop’s Eyes .” Warren states that she is looking forward on working on these projects with him and forming the East Coast Paranormal Police . This project will take the knowledge and skills of the true investigators and apply it to the paranormal. Warren stated that she thinks the idea is a great one , and can grow with the talent that is applied to the supernatural.Warren added, that between the three original team members , they have over 100 years of investigative experience in the paranormal ,and law enforcement field.

The New England Society For Psychic Research is Sponsoring the creation of the (C.O.P.S.) TEAM. They are currently looking to add to the Team with five investigators, five alternates, 3 Techs, and a pool of psychics, mediums, andsensitives. All parties involved will have to have some connection to the law enforcement field. The team is running a trial investigation at a location that they previously researched  The Poli Palace, Savoy Hotel, and the Majestic Theater. All three establishments have been abandoned for approx. 40 years. At the trial investigation the Team will be determined by the N.E.S.P.R. The team will be looking towards the marketing the East Coast Paranormal Police to the major networks. The Team is looking forward to working with the Chicago Paranormal Police, to enhance their location ,and experience availability on the East coast.
