826 Paranormal checks out Crescent Ave Art Gallery
F*cked Up and Photo-copied; The Disposable “art” of Matt Mullarkey
The other day I had the opportunity to meet a great bunch of people. They were lingering outside what was the old leather store on Crescent Ave. I was on patrol checking out the neighborhoods and saw the folks hanging outside 51 Crescent Ave. I of course being a nosey person asked what was the reason they were there. I was met by a young lady Eileen Walsh. We started to talk and she realized that I was the cop that does the paranormal work and urban decay photography. She asked me to come in and check out the works of the artist of the day Matt Mullarkey.
I told her that my undergraduate studies were in the art field. I went in and observed a large group of enthusiastic artists and fans of the arts. DJ Leach was there spinning the tunes in preparation for the live sets by Shangk, They Hate Us, and The Midnightmares. Eileen introduced me to some of the people as the paranormal cop; it was nice to know that there were people that knew of my work.
I then went over to Matt’s collection of fliers. This kid has a knack for the placement of subject matter and placement of words. He knows the negative space to balance this out with composition.
I enjoyed the tour brief but enlightening.
Eileen Walsh runs The Gallery at Blackrock (2681 Fairfield Avenue) and the Crescent Ave. Art Gallery (51 Crescent Ave.) I spoke to Eileen further on the way out about future plans of an art show showing 826 Paranormal’s urban decay and paranormal photography. We may work out some plans on using the art work of three cop artists in the genre of “cops not only on the beat the art beat”. We also discussed a possibility of doing a show with just the paranormal and urban decay photos around Halloween time.
